Folklore tells the story of a time when everything had color except snow. Wanting to be like everyone else, snow asked the flowers to lend her some color, but the proud flowers rejected her plea. The snowdrop, humble in size and color, pitied her and offered its own. Grateful for the kindness, snow gifted the snowdrop the ability to bloom during winter. Since then, snow has always been white — and the snowdrop, the first flower to bloom at the end of winter and the beginning of spring.
While different cultures tell this tale in their own way, the essence remains the same: the snowdrop represents compassion, purity, resilience, and hope.
